As a result, three of my Pokémon are actually a level or more higher than they are showing as and my Pidgey is still a lvl 17 Pidgey despite having the experience to be a lvl 18 Pidgeotto, if not level 19. My other Pokemon are gaining experience, but it isn’t taking effect unless I switch them to the front and do a battle. I’m switch training my Sandshrew until he is leveled enough to train on his own, but he is the only one whose experience is actively going up. My only other Pokémon is my Pidgey, which SHOULD be a Pidgeotto, but this is where the problem comes in. While Sandshrew is the only one weak to her, Wartortle is resisted and there’s a potential problem with my Nidorino if her Staryu and Starmie have psychic moves(the wiki doesn’t say and I don’t know how strict this is to the original move sets). It worked fine up until I reached Cerulean and went up to Route 24 to do some grinding and hopefully catch a Grass-type to deal with Misty. The problem I am having is with my Pokémon gaining experience. But that’s not my main problem, as I have a Sandshrew now so once that is leveled, I’ll be just fine I think, provided I don’t lose my Sandshrew.
I’m playing Nuzlocke rules, cause I generally just do that anymore, so it’s really annoying to not be able to use potions, especially since I’ve had a severe Electric-type weakness up to now(which those Voltorbs not listed in the wiki have given me hell, lost three Pokémon to them already and haven’t even beat Misty yet). I joined this today and thus far it is fun, though the banning of using items during trainer and gym battles seems a little excessive to me(depending how you’re playing it may already be rather difficult).
